About

With its rich heritage of handcrafts, mountain music, and native storytelling, combined with its unsurpassed beauty and wonderful climate, the southern Appalachian Mountain region is just about the most perfect place on earth. Who would not be inspired living here?

I am Eileen, the owner of Daffodil Corner. I am retired from the IT industry, and moved to those Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina in 2011. My house sits on about an acre of hillside, above the Watauga River, on a corner formed by the intersection of two country roads. Daffodils are one my favorite spring flowers, and they are planted everywhere; hence the name Daffodil Corner for my business.

I love to make things with my hands, be that baking, cooking meals with home grown ingredients, or plying a needle of embroidery floss on some cross stitch fabric or felt. Most of all, I love knitting and crocheting.

Although Daffodil Corner is a newer shop (opened in 2011), I have been selling on Etsy since 2005, partnering with my good friend Sue at HappyWhosits. With my move, it just made better sense logistically to open my own shop. I also have an account I have used when buying on Etsy - MommaE.

Daffodil Corner is an eclectic mix of the things I love to make, from amigurumi toys and collectibles (crocheted, stuffed animals) to baby hats, booties and blankets. Some day I hope to add hand dyed fiber and handspun yarn as well. At any given time there may also be a bit of de-stash vintage kits and craft supplies thrown in. Some items in the shop may look familiar. If so, you probably saw them first at HappyWhosits.

While some of the items I create come from my own patterns, I also use patterns created by others, with their permission. I will always give credit to the pattern designer in my shop listing.
