Welcome to Dancing Stone Jewelry!

My name is Janet and I fell in love with stones at a very young age. As a child growing up on Cape Cod and on the rocky islands of Maine, I spent countless hours at the beach, even and especially, in the deep cold of winter. That's when all the stones emerge to be seen, uncovered by the receding sand. When I was young I learned to appreciate the beauty of the natural world, and began to develop an intimate understanding and connection with the land around me. It was here that my young artist self found her muse.

I continue to find inspiration everywhere I go. Part of the beauty of working with beach stones is that no two stones are alike. Each piece of jewelry I create is adorned with realistic imagery and decorative motifs delicately hand-painted in acrylic paint. They are rustic and elegant, and become touchstones of a place.

My creative process begins on the beach. As I gather each stone I draw inspiration for the designs from the often hidden forms and expressions of the world around me. Ultimately it is the stone that decides on the design. Each design emerges from, and is inspired by, the unique qualities of each stone.

I want you to have a genuine sense of what makes your piece of jewelry so unique and special. So, along with your piece of jewelry, you will receive a beautifully hand written note (with pictures when possible) that shares your stone's story. Each story describes the place and time when I found your stone, and anything significant that might have happened.

I love what I do and strive to live a simple life close to nature. I work hard, but when I don't have a paintbrush in my hand, you can find me hiking in the woods, sailing, walking the beach, playing celtic music on my flute and penny whistle, planning my next traveling adventure, or simply enjoying a good book curled up with a hot cup of tea or cocoa.

I hope my jewelry inspires you to celebrate the beauty that is all around you. May it brighten up your day!

Thanks for stopping by!

~ Janet
