I have been sewing since I was a little girl. My first project was a muslin mallard duck stuffed animal with cut lines and dots where each stitch was supposed to go. I have since done everything from pillows and blankets to prom dresses and costumes for theatre productions. Repairing horse turnout blankets was a frequent activity when I still owned a horse, and my equestrian buddies often put my skills to good use. I am frequently the repair-lady for my friends and coworkers who rip buttons off or break zippers; many of them are hopeless with a needle and thread.
I can wield both power drill and circular saw with ease, and get a kick out of doing the projects the stereotypical woman abhors. I enjoy being a jack-of-all trades, but I wish I had more time to be creative.
