Denyse Rosa's Profile

About

For as long as I can remember, I have had a passion for creating beautiful things. A born artist, I designed clothes, leather bags, and belts from an early age. Many of my creations ended up being bought by friends, family and different exclusive boutiques of Montreal, Quebec Canada where I was born. Later while raising my children i found a creative outlet in the form of wicker furniture. I quickly learned this lost art of Quebec, selling my pieces at various county fairs.

Years later I began traveling as a Volunteer Social Worker where I was introduced to the exotic countries of Colombia, Brazil, Venezuela, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Honduras. These beautiful countries founded a love for jewelry making. I sought out and worked with various organic jewels just ready to take shape into original designs. I also explored the blending and mixing of wild colors while I worked as a program organizer for a small home textile and sarong (souvenir) factory in Guatemala where I lived 15 years.

Seeing the hidden beauty within coral, shells, seeds, wild boar tusks, cow horn, bones and bamboo, I am able to reinvent nature's jewels into "Denyse's Original Designs".

For the last 12 years I've lived in Belize, in the small coastal village of Placencia in south Belize with a strong Caribbean influence. My work took on a whole new dimension. Working continuously with nature's jewels I enhanced my pieces with semi precious stones, glass beads and crystals from all over the world.

My shop is located on the sidewalk (Guinness Book of Records called it the narrowest main street in the world) one of the tourist attraction in Placencia where shops, restaurants, and beach bars are located, a nice beach walk for shopping and getting a refreshment.
