I have been painting since 2005. My first piece was an acrylic portrait of my great grandparents. It turned out so well, I painted more, some on commission. I wanted to learn to draw, so I enrolled in college in 2006 as an art student. I had a wonderful time learning and being challenged. It is exciting to know there is so much more yet to learn. In December 2011, I earned my B.A. in Studio Art and continued on for a second degree in Anthropology in June 2013.

My style is a bit eclectic with focuses on painting, drawing, printmaking, and mixed media. The creative search is both fun and rewarding and will go on for some time. I look forward to what I learn next and I am surely enjoying the journey!

A recent project is a collection of digital images using a flatbed scanner. It gives them a more etherial and mysterious effect. I control the results using lighting, props, and filters while scanning. The only corrective software I use is to adjust contrast and eliminate dust spots. I have had several of the best ones professionally printed and offer them here to purchase. There are limited amounts and when gone, I will either get more made or offer them for digital download. If you prefer a download, contact me.

I have had work in several gallery exhibits, including student shows, a solo show, and State Fairs. My creativity is a blessing from God and I thank Him every day. Sometimes I feel as if I am His instrument. How fun it is to be the brush!

Sincerely,
Kathryn M. Bennett
