Diane's Profile

About

I started making jewelry later in life although I have always had a passion for it. With the advent of PMC or silver clay, I was able to start working on my own jewelry creations. From there I apprenticed with two metalsmiths, and learned all the basics bench techniques like soldering, sawing, filing, polishing. I made several rings using the lost wax method. I had a lot of fun with the polishing wheel, and my finger nails were always nicely buffed.

There is something cathartic about handling metal, refining it and polishing it. There is such a sense of accomplishment once your idea has come to fruition in physical form.
