Vintage clothing has a history which speaks to me. Finding a unique piece of vintage clothing is like finding buried treasure. Although anything art deco is irresistible, my heart truly belongs to 50s and 80s vintage fashion! I have been collecting vintage clothing since I was a kid, but now it is time for me to begin letting go of all of this history...

I currently live in Rwanda where I teach, develop science and English curricula for schools, and collect, purchase, and distribute books to school libraries. Many of my students are orphans of the Rwandan genocide. Most of my students live in poverty, without clean water or adequate food or health care. I currently live in Rwanda where I teach, develop science and English curricula for schools, and collect, purchase, and distribute books to school libraries. Many of my students are orphans of the Rwandan genocide. Most of my students live in poverty, without clean water or adequate food or health care. Most of my work in Rwanda is volunteer so my Etsy proceeds are necessary to support this work--I list items while visiting stateside and have people ship for me once a sale is made. Shipping generally takes 1-3 weeks due to the fact that my shippers have their own busy jobs and lives.

Thanks to my Etsy buyers, I have almost raised enough money to ship 10 tons of high school and university level textbooks to schools all over Rwanda. I still have a couple thousand more dollars to go, but with your help, I can make it! Let me give you an idea of just how important this shipment will be using an example from my own experience: Before volunteering as a high school biology teacher at one of the best schools in Rwanda, teachers at the school were unable to teach large portions of the national curriculum because the school didn't own the requisite textbooks. Students were never taught the organic chemistry or the microbiology that they needed to perform well on the national exam. Enter me, with a treasure trove of chem and bio books from my university days and, abracadabra, teachers were able to teach some material for the first time. Many students received perfect scores on the national exam and, abracadabra, for the first time in 2011 an unprecedented 7 students from a single school (my school!) earned scholarships to study in the United States! My aim is to give the brightest and most hard-working students throughout Rwanda a similar chance to create their own successful futures by providing them with the necessary tools required for this success. Now you are a part of that and I thank you dearly!

I'm always flexible on pricing. Like what you see but want to make an offer? Please convo me!
