About

Hi, I am a mother of four lovely children and wife to a very patient husband and have always had an interest in sewing and knitting. My first memory of making something was a green corduroy waistcoat when I was in primary school. I remember my lovely daddy bringing me to the big department store (Anderson & Mc Auley's in Belfast,Northern Ireland) to buy some fancy pink braiding and a gold button and chain device to close it). My waistcoat was displayed for the whole school to see and I felt very proud.

Having retired (early, I'm not that old!) from nursing and night working, I have taken up sewing again and am pleased to announce the opening of my Etsy shop "Doda Lee".

Having retired (early, I'm not that old!) from nursing and night working, I have taken up sewing again and am pleased to announce the opening of my Etsy shop "Doda Lee".

Doda Lee, what's that about?

Doda Lee is a nickname that developed over many years. It started with my twin sister not being able to say "Rosemary", so she called me "Do-mary", which was shortened to "Dode" by the rest of the Lee family. The first born of the next generation of our family, my niece, modified the name to Doda and so I was known as "Doda Lee". In my knitting days during the eighties when I made Icelandic "Lopi" sweaters for virtually every member of my family I would attach a woven label to each sweater which said,
"Made Especially For You by Doda Lee".

So if you are looking for a unique, not mass produced gift for family or friends take a look around my shop and I hope you like what you see.

Thanks for visiting and please call again to see my latest items.
