About

Once Upon a time, there was Dolly Q.

Twenty something years ago a little 6 year old girl sat at her grandmothers on a Saturday afternoon, being Ballarat it was typically grey and rainy day. This little girl turned to her mother and grandmother and lamented… ‘I’m Bored’.
Her grandmother, who was not a fan of idle hands took it upon herself to knock this boredom on the head, she had an idea, she was going to share with this little girl a skill she possessed, a passion she knew would flourish in this child, but none of the amazing women sitting in that room that day had any idea that what the matriarch of the family would do next would shape the young girls life so strongly. She pulled out her old, slightly intimidating Myer Victa sewing machine, sat the young girl infront of it and said ‘Here, sew’. And she did.

Danielle started sewing out of boredom but now designs and sews out of passion. Her days are filled with thoughts of fabrics, trim, silhouettes, textures, Thierry Mugler and Alexander McQueen.
Taking inspiration from historical fashion, fairy tales and film, she uses modern fabrics and the concepts that lurk in the darkest reaches of her mind to create, things of beauty.
Her mission is wearable glamour. To express externally what’s going on inside. Danielle believes fashion must be a passion, every day we should dress to impress, not others but ourselves.
After trying her hand at everything from property management, hairdressing to bar management she has finally decided to return to her passion and launch her new label , lovingly named for her grandmother , Doris Georgina Quemard (RIP) , (known to her friends as Dolly Q) ,that taught her to sew.
