Here you'll find work that I wiped off the dust to share with you!

Some years ago, a car accident and weeks of rehabilitation introduced me to the world of graphite. Looking for a way to pass the time, I discovered that with a blank piece of paper and a well sharpened pencil, I could create something of beauty. As a self taught artist, I attempted to elevate my skill, but as time went on, I found myself drawing less and when I did complete a piece, I'd either give it away, hide it away or more times than not, throw it away.

Much later, after a stint as an animator and an even longer stint as a production artist at a label printer, I came to the realization that life is too short and wonderful to live within the confines of a grey cubicle, staring at a computer…

Much later, after a stint as an animator and an even longer stint as a production artist at a label printer, I came to the realization that life is too short and wonderful to live within the confines of a grey cubicle, staring at a computer screen. I wanted to be inspired and possibly inspire others. By realizing my dreams and hidden talents, other people might possibly recognize theirs as well. So, in 2012, with my artist wife in tow, as well as a trailer and loaded down truck, we headed east from Texas to an area we felt would be more nurturing to inspiration. We found that life we had hoped and longed for surrounded in the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina.

Most of my work is done with graphite, but I also work in pen & ink, pastel, charcoal and a newly discovered fondness for Prismacolor pencils. One of the most popular and time consuming techniques I use is called "stippling". Stippling basically uses dots to create varying degrees of shading. In this case, they’re dots of ink. Each dot is meticulously placed and a final piece can consist of hundreds of thousands or even more dots. Thus my business name was born, dot4dot.

Whatever technique or medium I use, whether it’s a dot of ink, a line of graphite, or a stroke of pastel, the one thing that keeps me drawing, that keeps my sketchbook in hand, is seeing the pure joy, the smile, when someone picks up a piece that I created and has an immediate emotional connection to it. It's because of that response that I've learned to embrace the artist that I am.
