About

I love animals and enjoy exploring the countryside around my home, seeing the vast array of species living around us. I love to use these as my subjects. I previously worked for a wildlife conservation charity and so have had the opportunity to get up close to many species and incorporate this knowledge into my work.

I used to make jewellery, which I enjoyed immensely but when I was pregnant I wanted to find a simpler, less space consuming craft, one that had more possibilities, something that didn’t need a table full of tools to make a piece of work.

I tried knitting, let’s just say that I am NOT a knitter. I’m a versatile person but for some reason cannot get my head around it!

I wanted something that used natural materials and I had read about needle felting a while before and decided to give it a go. I bought some wool and a couple of needles and experimented. I was hooked…I had found my new obsession!

Something so simple, using wool and needles, could offer so many possibilities and allowed me to work in a way that I felt I was painting a 3D sculpture. I have always been a sucker for wool, loving natural fibre in clothing and crafts and it was so satisfying to now be able to source and use so many tactile and striking fibres in my work.

The possibilities of what I could create still excite me now and I get so much enjoyment out of bringing the raw materials to life and turning them into a piece of art with its own character and spirit. I hope my enjoyment shows through in my work and that others can find the same satisfaction from my art as I do.
