At a very young age, Ashley Duke, became fascinated by color and textures, dumping out jars of her grandmothers buttons on the floor. She'd match them together by size, design, and color. When she was just six years old her mother and grandmothers taught her the trade of crocheting. Though she was stubborn at first she fell in love. Not able to contain her excitement she brought a bag of hooks and a whole heap of yarn to school one day and taught her entire first grade class how to crochet. In high school she took two textile and design classes, but was sure that her passion was for paints and the art of drawing. After boycotting her dream school, MCAD, and spending only one year at Western Michigan University as a painting major she felt a deep pining in her heart for her sewing machine.

She loves an array of mixed materials, weather she is drawing, sewing, or cooking! Ashley feels that many colors and textures can compliment each other very well in more ways than some may think.
