About

The first time I heard about the process of spinning fiber, I was in my early 20's. I had a baby son and a sweetheart of a Wolf-Husky mixed dog. She would shed more undercoat than seemed at all Earthly possible! I mused then, that it seemed like such a waste throwing all that soft lovely fiber in the trash. That notion sparked the idea to do some research, and it led me to find out that you can actually process it and spin it into yarn! I was amazed! And so way overwhelmed at the seeming complexity of idea that I did not pick up spinning at the time. But, it was always a niggling idea in the back of my brain!

Several years later, the stars aligned and I got some basic processing equipment (dog slicker brushes!) and a spindle. I spun my first yarn out of super soft alpaca and fell directly in love with the process! I felt like as I was creating, I was reconnecting pieces of my soul…

I felt like as I was creating, I was reconnecting pieces of my soul in some way. I felt so purposeful and alive, connected to all the Earths peoples who created like this for eons. It's such a primal process, connected deeply into the natural ways of nature and man. It was out of that connection to the Earth, and to my own Heart and Soul that I came up with the name: EarthenSoul. For me the name EarthenSoul is the embodiment of that idea. Working with natural resources in a gentle, heartfelt, soulful way!
