Stones are definitely my greatest passion. I become lost in the stones when I'm working with them. When working with the rough stone, I always attempt to cut for quality rather than quantity, trying to find the patterns and colors in the rough material to best represent it. Although I use templates at times, more often the shapes are derived by hand from what I see in the rough material. As a lapidarist, I believe my role is merely to bring out the best of what each stone has to offer, in a soulful collaboration with nature...
As for the jewelry, almost all of my work is intuitive in the sense that, although I do sketch out some designs beforehand, very few pieces are visualized in the final form prior to the actual fabrication.
