About

I sometimes refer to myself as a magpie because I love bright and shiny things. I'm especially fond of deep jewel tones, especially greens, blues, and purples, but I love bright pinks and reds, yellows, and pastels.

My interests are eclectic. The music I listen to comes from many traditions and styles, as does the art I admire. The things I read don't always fit neatly into bookstore categories: I love well-written fantasy, science fiction, supernatural suspense horror (but not gory slasher horror), historical fiction and non-fiction, and literary fiction. I love the interstitial art movement. I love intensely serious subjects and delight in humor.

The environment is extremely important to me, so I do my best to reduce, reuse, recycle, and repurpose. Someday, I hope to build a truly green house, built from renewable and recycled materials, that produces more…

Someday, I hope to build a truly green house, built from renewable and recycled materials, that produces more energy than it uses. Until then, I do my best to find other ways to reduce my footprint on this planet, so that it will be a good place for future generations of humans and other species.

My taste in clothing runs the gamut. I love period clothing: Medieval, Renaissance, Colonial, Tudor, Elizabethan, Regency, Victorian, Edwardian, Haute Couture, Modern (1920-40) and Flapper, 30s, 40s, 50s, even the 70s and beyond; there probably isn't a period out there, including our own, that doesn't appeal to me, with the possible exception of Cro-Magnon-style animal skins. I also love clothing styles, both traditional and contemporary, from around the world.

When I first discovered the many repurposed, recycled, and upcycled fashion items that people are making today, either for their own use, or to sell, I was fascinated and delighted. I've started making garments from upcycled tshirts, incorporating style influences from a variety of sources. The techniques I use include slashing, weaving, and sewing soft knit garments to create truly unique items that I hope others will love. My OOAK fashion items will be available in the very near future.
