Hello and Welcome to Elephant on a Wire!

Starting at a young age, I went thifting, antiquing, and flea marketing with my family. Before my sister and I were born, my mother was known to buy pieces of antique furniture that were still being used by shop owners and she was no less determined after she became a mother. She often enlisted my sister and me to search for an elusive item but also encouraged us to find our own treasures at the market. As I grew up and developed my own vintage aesthetic, my mom taught me the tell-tale differences between true antiques and mere reproductions.

As such, I’m reshaping my Etsy shop from a jewelry-making hobby to a bona fide vintage store. I hope to use the funds I make to save for and then float myself through a graduate program in social work.

I frequent estate sales, thrift shops, and antique markets to find unique pieces I hope you’ll love. I don’t buy anything I wouldn’t keep myself, so every item in the shop is a much-coveted find. My mom taught me to know and respect the history and stories of each piece, and I hope to pass on to my customers that same appreciation for the past.

Thanks so much for reading this and stopping by my shop!

All my thrifting love,
Lauren
