My name is Ema. My given is name is Ellen, but I prefer my nickname of Ema. I have spent the past 20 years raising my three sons. In the early days of child rearing I ran a bookkeeping business and helped my husband launch his own electrical business. Upon the birth of my third son I wound down my bookkeeping business to focus on raising my family and support my husband in his business.

When my baby boy began school full time I began to think about the direction of my own life a bit more. I didn't want to go back to the world of accounting. I had been dabbling in jewelry making for some years and decided it was time to expand on the artist in me. I took a class in lampworking and have never looked back.

My two oldest boys are in college and my baby (he hates that), at 13 yrs old is becoming a fine young man, although still in need of a mom's support and attention.

I have been working on selling my lampwork beads as well as well creating unique pieces of art jewelry (two boys in college requires me to earn some money...oooy!). So it is here in my store I will offer my handmade designs, my unique one of a kind beads and individual pieces of art jewelry. I find my I desire to experiment with different mediums every once in a while keeps the creativity fresh so on occassion you may find pieces created using different art forms pop up for sale. Although lampworking will always be my first and foremost passion.

I have previously opened a shop on Etsy but the name did not reflect my business name so I opened this new shop appropriately titled with my business name, Ema K Designs. You can find my first shop here:

I am a self representing artist (SRA K87) creating my lampwork glass from my home based studio. My favorite place to be is sitting behind my torch letting my mind wander in the creative process. Forming glass into something other than what it began as is a very gratifying experience. It can be meditative at times. This is where I would spend all of my time if I actually could. I truly love what I do. All of my creations are original one of a kind beads.

Thanks for your interest and I hope you enjoy browsing through my offerings. I look forward to a growing list of satisfied customers.

I am a member of the following organizations:
SRA K87 (Self Representing Artist)
SRAJD 3469 (Self Representing Artist Jewelry Designers)
EOF (Etsians on Facebook Team)
HMET (Handmadeology Team)
OnFireTeam
ISGB (International Society of Glass Beadmakers)
SGB - Boston
Rollstone Studios
Fitchburg Cultural Alliance

Kind Regards to All,
Ema
