Emma Otu-Brown's Profile

About

I began working with metals in 1999 from a background of making paper- mache' jewelry from an upcoming Jewelry Designer in New York. I moved to Baltimore and joined the Gem Cutters Guild of Baltimore. Seeking more challenge and a way to expand my design ideas, I decided to learn Silver Smith. I am mostly self taught attending weekend workshops when time allows. I incorporate all the different techniques in Silver Smith. I also enjoy color in my work, such as enamel, fused glass and making lamp work beads. The combination of metals and glass in my work makes it more creative, original, lightweight, elegant and out of the box.
My Jewelry path is a synthesis of my life. My intimate relationship with nature, and the influence of all the places I have traveled. Living in Arizona is fun and I look forward to the Gem Shows in February.
