Before taking up felt, I was a painter, and before learning to paint, I was an artist, but only in potential. Without technique I had no means of expression. My eye discerned the patterns of beauty concealed within nature, and my heart desired to bring them forth into the tangible world.
I learned to paint and will always love that medium, but I wanted something more, a medium with a more direct connection to the world of human things.
Felt is a relatively unexplored medium compared to paint and canvass. It is new to me, and it carries an extra quality painting does not- it begs to be touched and held, fumbled with, used, lived with.
