About

Ernestine & Eugenia: handmade fabric art is my main creative outlet. I also paint and like to create objects and art from found items, and I like to cook-all natural, clean eating foods. I look to the past and bloom in the present.

E&E:hmfa focuses mainly on wearable fabric art in the form of flower pins and necklaces. Like real flowers and foliage, each one of my creations, though similar, is very different. Every layer of every item is completely cut, sewn and assembled by hand. Mostly I work in silks, cottons, linens and velvets. Sometimes I throw in a little leather and wool just for fun.

Most all of my "fancy" pins encorporate vintage buttons from may VAST collection passed on to me from my grandmother, my "Nanny", Ruth ERNESTINE.

She was a wonderful seamstress. The finest I've ever seen. She could make ANYTHING to perfection. Clothing was her forte and profession, but quilting was her passion later in life. Her sister, Thelma EUGENIA, was also a fine seamstress. Her specialty was handwork of all types. Crocheting, tatting, needlepoint, cross-stitch, knitting, petit-point. Between the two, there was nothing they could not create.

I feel a connection to my grandmother everytime I make something new.

Although my flower pins are where E&E:hmfa began,and is still my first love, my brain is always working on new ideas.

I have started a blog, but I'm still getting used to it, so my posts are still pretty random, but I hope you'll check it out from time to time at www.ernestineandeugenia.blogspot.com

I have recently opened another etsy shop, ErnestinesAttic, (www.ernestinesattic.etsy.com) where I de-stash and sell vintage items and other of my creations, though handmade by me, do not incorporate fabrics {as much :)}

Thanks for stopping by my shop. Missy

OH...one more thing...That's Ernestine in my avatar photo!!
