About

Fine Art Prints from Visual Media Artist Carly Erin O'Neil.
Based in Brooklyn. Born in Texas.

My obsession with the ordinary is uncontrollable – hence the explorative approach to most of my human and non human subjects alike, seeking to illustrate abstraction, but in a familiar voice similar to that of a friendly-homestate-face. I aim to catalyze thought and reflection- all private reactions to the visual and written forms of my art, in order to catalyze the viewer’s innate creative self.

The beauty of the land we inhabit also captures my heart, and the ability to stand outside of the human existence as merely an observer to that which is almost obsolete to most eyes, is what drives my perspective as a photographer and a writer.

Through my own introspections and documentations I hope to create a span of imagery and writing to influence even the most closed of hearts to escape their own neighborhoods and immerse themselves in light and land.

Through these private moments, awakenings and revelations of the viewer, I truly hope that they can then move to continue the cycle of inspired freedom of self.

This is also the ONLY place you can purchase prints of my Self-Portraiture!

During my years as one of the first-generation/pioneers of the freelance modeling industry, Self-Portraiture was a way to be able to trust that the final concept was in fact in MY control.
Once I moved past that phase of being happy with the perfection of a single frame, I found that a word wasn't quite what I was looking for, and found cinema- in which I could speak a sentence. Spent a year teaching myself the medium (digital) in order to be able to vocalize more fluidly- and perhaps less banally than where the "selfie" has lead us: I didn't want my own exploration of myself to be misconstrued as the typical narcissistic curiosity, but as more of an honest search; a dialogue, a checklist, and documentation of life's in-betweens.

Upcoming additions:
-----The Return to 'more than just prints': Pillows, Fabrics, Home Textiles, Furniture, Wallpaper, all incorporating the art from my archive.

-----BOOKS!
*Photography and writing in combination is so engaging to me; as well as the muse-artist tug-of-war that is incessant within—the combination between the “left brain” and the “right brain” keeps me on my toes and consistently challenged, even though some of my projects are solely one or the other.
