I have always been creative I think its in my genes. My youngest sister moves furniture around, adds a few flourishes and completely changes the feel of a room and my eldest brother restores furniture and both very creative. My dear old mum is what I would call practically creative, she still paints and wallpapers her own home at 70, sews curtains and makes bridesmaids dresses). My Nanna was always sewing, knitting, embroidery and she played the piano like a real artist. She was also one of life's true hoarders, which was great because if you needed a button or thread my Nanna had the perfect color, she kept all the cards she ever received which was great for scrapbooking.

At school I was never interested in sewing, which believe it or not was part of the curriculum, but art I loved and my art teacher was an inspiration. Clay, who doesn't love throwing clay (not at the teacher mind)…

About

Clay, who doesn't love throwing clay (not at the teacher mind). We made wire forms and covered them in plaster of Paris, collage; we did macramé and all manner of other exciting things.

Art and reading were the only reasons I went to school, maths and sciences Yuk.

Having spent a lot of my adult life without a lot of money, you have to get creative around your home and all my creative skills from my mum, my Nanna and my teacher came to the fore, I was doing shabby chic before there was a name for it, painting old furniture, going to flea markets and skip hunting, you would be amazed at the stuff people throw out!

I have come to jewelry making late in life but I love it and I have a real passion for beads and gemstones....If I see a bead or a gemstone like a magpie if it sparkles I'm in there like a dirty shirt!

So there you have it...my life in a nutshell.

We recently purchased a hotel and we are renovating into a home...it initially had 13 bedrooms and 17 bathrooms...but we have taken down walls and now its 8 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, this has taken up a lot of my time and creative juices which means no jewellery making for a long time now...but I am getting back into the swing of things
