Lynnie designed her first maternity tee in 1994. Pregnant at the time with her third child, Lynnie’s then 4-year-old son Codi asked, “Mommy, why do you have a bump on your belly?” Lynnie answered, “The bump is there to protect the little baby inside.” From then on, Codi referred to Lynnie’s belly as “the bump” and told everyone that “Mommy has a bump to protect our baby.” And so,“baby under Mommy’s protection” was born. The new phrase was so special to Lynnie that she took one of her tee-shirts to a tee-shirt printer and had “bump...baby under mommy’s protection” imprinted on the maternity tee so that it landed exactly as it should on her bump. The idea blossomed, but Lynnie has revamped the original tee and has created her new Apple & Eve collection of tasteful, humorous, affordable novelty t-shirts for moms, dads and babies.
