Roselyn Sanders Mendez's Profile
I have had a desire to create since I was very small. Being raised in a family of artists among a community of artists and craftspeople, I have been surrounded by amazing works of art, materials and processes. I have had the freedom to explore many mediums. Textile work and painting were my first loves but as I have delved into the world of metalwork I have found a true passion. Each metal has its own properties and personality. I mostly work in copper, brass and sterling silver but on occasion I love to use odd materials like vintage aluminum or recycled sardine cans. Each piece is a small sculpture to be worn. The stones I buy from artisan lapidaries often inspire new pieces. Each creation is designed and fabricated by me in my WV studio.
