Greetings and welcome to EvieSoap!

I’m a wife, dog owner, and soap artisan. I have a passion for making soap that it is safe, luxurious, and yummy for your skin.

Like many people, I have sensitive skin and commercial soap makes my skin feel tight, dry, flaky, and irritated. So, I started to do some research, and I read - a lot. I realized that cheap commercial soap AND even fancy, expensive brands contained chemicals and things I couldn’t even pronounce. How could that be good? I found that these soaps were made using methods like milling (or triple milling) that basically cooks soap down into a hard block that lasts a long time but removes out all the “goodness” (like essential oils).

That’s when I decided to make my own soap. EvieSoap is a simple, back to the basics,…

EvieSoap is a simple, back to the basics, safe soap made using the cold process method. I purchase and use only high quality ingredients from reputable sources. All of the ingredients are plant based - no animal products. I work in a super clean, smoke-free, quiet environment, using great care. I pay close attention to the measurements and make small batches by hand (they are very fresh!). All of my soaps cure for at least one month. I test each bar personally to ensure that it’s ready and safe to use. I cut my soap by hand. While I try to do my best to measure and cut carefully and evenly, each bar is a little different but weighs approximately 5 oz each. I think the rough cut adds to its charm. After all, it’s handcrafted, right? I also create my own unique soap scents using essential oils, fragrance oils, or both.

You may have noticed that I use something called sodium hydroxide, also known as lye. Okay, now don’t panic. When I hear the word “lye”, I think of things like “acid”, “caustic” and “burning”. And yes, by itself and used improperly, it can be all those things. Let me set the record straight - all soap contains lye in one form or another. What happens when you make soap is a fascinating chemical reaction called “saponification”. When you blend oils with lye mixed well with water, the molecules change. The mixture initially looks like cake batter and after it’s poured into a mold, it hardens, and turns into a solid block. Once it is cut and is allowed to dry (“cure”), the elements neutralize and voila!, soap is made.

And what a soap this produces! It’s rich without being oily. It creates a luscious, white, and generous lather and beautiful bubbles. Your skin feels clean and smooth. I’ve also tested my soaps on my family members, friends, and co-workers and even those with sensitive skins report fabulous results.

My soaps are wrapped with 100% post consumer, chlorine free, recycled paper. I care about my product, our planet, and you! Thank you so much for stopping by. I wish you good health, joy, and happy washing!
