Lucky to have a nurturing dad who supported my creative efforts. At age 4, I was singing, at 10, designing fashions for my dolls. In my teens, I strung my own necklaces, back when it was "quaint" to be handmade.
I sang in a church choir and folk rock group. Dabbled in painting, papier mache sculptures, took classes in writing, stained glass, jewelry making, photography. Not braggin, just sayin, I've won awards for writing, songwriting and photography.
Dad gave me another gift -- a love for things of the past. We used to forage in flea markets, sometimes before sunrise! And there were garage, porch, house, barn and estate sales and antique shops. We collected old things when it wasn't chic to shop for pre-owned.
