Surrounded by creative family members and friends, I was exposed early on to an appreciation of handcrafted work. My Peace Corps and business travels have taken me to many bazaars and market places around the world where I became keenly aware of textile patterns, color combinations and techniques, most of which are hundreds or thousands of years old. I’m fascinated by the properties of wool fiber and the felting process. Felt is the oldest known man-made textile and I love to experiment with the medium for contemporary applications. Making something out of ordinary materials and taking a design from concept to creation through trial and error is a process that feeds my soul. When I'm not creating, I can be found in Lake Michigan or other lakes and rivers, where I am an avid open water swimmer. Many of my designs and ideas come to me while I'm in the water. Felt Inspired items have been featured on HGTV’s Crafter’s Coast to Coast, The Crafts Report, Belle Armoire and Knitter’s Magazine. Each piece is individually handcrafted in my home studio in Chicago and prepared as a gift. Enjoy!
