FIBER DANCE WEAVING STUDIO

"The graceful motion of feet waltzing barefoot on treadles, accompanied by the steady rhythm of hands beating the weft... this is the Fiber Dance."

My journey began in Maine, where I learned to weave blankets on a large air-powered loom in a commercial weaving studio, a task which requires great diligence and determination, as well as a certain amount of physical endurance. I soon discovered the end result of all that effort was extremely satisfying. Intrigued, I bought my first loom for $25, a broken-down, neglected wooden treasure which, sadly, had never been used. After restoring the loom to its former glory, I put it to use helping me to explore the ancient art of hand weaving.

I now weave finely crafted textiles, such as baby blankets, scarves, and wraps*. Each piece is individually woven in my studio in Brooklyn, New York, on a traditional hand loom, using only the best natural fiber yarns. I enjoy weaving things that are soft, things that provide comfort to those who possess them. I thrive on spending countless hours at my loom, warping, weaving, and contemplating life. I've discovered that through my craft, I can touch people, many of whom I will never meet, and bring a bit of warmth into their world.

I strive to produce a product which I also would be proud to own. It is my hope when you purchase one of my carefully woven treasures, that you will derive just as much pleasure from it as I feel while weaving, or to quote yours truly, while "waltzing barefoot on treadles", gleefully performing the Fiber Dance.

*A special note to baby wearers: I sell my baby wearing wraps online, from my Facebook business page and chatter group. Go to Fiber Dance Weaving Studio or Fiber Dance Fans on Facebook to find out about available wraps. My customs list is closed.
