About

I am a Textile Designer. I graduated from Hammersmith School of Art, London, UK, where I studied Art and Design, Textiles. I now live and work from my studio in the small village of Yangan, in south east Queensland. I design printed and woven fabrics, one of a kind and limited edition knitwear, footwear, accessories, the buttons I make, and the yarns I spin for my own use.

I decided on village life after a lifetime spent in large cities, in order to escape the unnecessary distractions, and the traffic and dust of the city. I have found fresh clean air, the perfume of the forest, views of mountains and valleys, the restful tranquility in the sound of gurgling streams, and time to think and work creatively and effectively. It doesn't get any better.

I believe that a sense of humour is essential to the creative process, as indeed it is to life in general. I believe that one should constantly strive to do new things, and experience using and understanding new materials, to continually grow and extend one's self intellectually, and to enjoy the fun generated by new ideas.

I love honour, integrity, humour, the unexpected, contradiction, spontaneity, and use them constantly in my work as in my life. I love the idea that those who buy my work, and wear the garments I design and produce, participate with me in what I do. They take the substance of my thought and efforts into new environments, beyond the walls of my studio. They display the different facets of it's being with every movement their bodies make. They give it life, and for that I am hugely grateful.

I love the company of friends and lively conversation, well crafted shoes, well cut clothes, beautiful jewellery, good architecture, beautiful furniture, and fine art, in a word, beauty. I love the sight of my son, and the sound of his voice. I like a challenge. I love things well crafted, and all the places that sell them. I love the atmosphere to be found in other people's studios. I love the invigorating smell of country air, and returning home through the mountains after a day spent in the city. Cool breezes, and the smell of forest and sea really make my day.

Edward is my idea of male perfection, and would that I had found him before Bella did.
