About

After working as a caseworker for 30 years, I took an early retirement and started working more seriously in pottery. I had taken several pottery workshops off and on while working.

Now that I'm retired, I still attend as many workshops as I can on an ongoing basis as this is a continual learning experience for me.

All my work is intuitive and spontaneous and without any pre-planning or sketching. I can be inspired by anything that catches my eye. During the decorative process, I can spend many hours on one piece and many times I use several colors in some of my designs. Constructing a piece of clay work can be “down and dirty”, but the love and feel of being one with the clay doesn't require staying clean.

When I open the kiln after firing my work, it feels like Christmas once again.

I love making both functional and artistic pieces of work. The functional pieces allow the buyer to use them on a daily basis, and hopefully feel the energy and spirit that went into their making. Living with the artistic pieces is a different kind of experience, one of frequently discovering new aspects of a one-of-a-kind creation. I enjoy sharing both kinds of experiences with those who choose to live with my work.

My other love is photography and making collage cards. Well actually, one other love is jewelry. That's where I first started so many years ago, but I still make it for family and friends, when I have time that is.
