Tammy Loiselle's Profile

About

I'm a Ukrainian-Canadian jewelry designer and clay bead artist. I'm married for 11 years with 2 cats, Vushka Watermelon, 5, and Irzu Strawberry Destructo, 5 months old. I named this shop after Fizban the Fabulous, my recently deceased 15 year old cat, because he had so much fun with my string, cord, and wire over the years. Vushka also likes to "help" me with the beads. Irzu tries constantly to steal my pliers and any beads not nailed down. And Nathan, my husband, helps by running to the post office and disability office for me. We are a rare "double disabled couple." My disabilities are physical (scoliosis, fibromyalgia, arthritis, etc.) and his are mental (bipolar 2, PTSD, social anxiety disorder). I also walk with a cane.

My grandmother who helped raise us all used to say that you should always wear an interesting piece of jewelry and people would always remember you. She also used to tell me…

My grandmother who helped raise us all used to say that you should always wear an interesting piece of jewelry and people would always remember you. She also used to tell me that when you have a gift it's, a "big sin" to waste it. I like to think she'd be proud of what I'm doing.

I attended the New York Institute of Art and Design (NYIAD.) I love working with polymer clay, brass and bronze wire, genuine gemstones, lampwork glass, crystal, ribbon, and leather cord. With the clay, I make a lot of my own beads, pendants, and spikes, a lot of which will be available in Fizban Beads and Fizban Jewelry. Fizban Jewelry is now open and stocked. There will be more coming. Http//:www.fizbanjewelry.etsy.com.
Fizban Beads will have beads and findings listed shortly, but at the moment only has discounted jewelry for sale. Http//:www.fizbanbeads.etsy.com.

Unfortunately, the free shipping will become a thing of the past, due to the rising costs of shipping through Canada Post, but I still won't be charging what I'm charged as I feel that their rates are way too high.

I've been struggling with my hands for well over a year now, so using a computer has been a challenge. I had severe carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands, which made it's appearance right after my being diagnosed with diabetes. Since then, I lost feeling for several months to the point that I was unable to feel boiling water or various injuries I sustained. Luckily, night splinting eventually brought back the feeling and then they were constant sources of pain. I had surgery on both hands, one of which became infected. As I was nearly recovered, my Fizban died in my hands. I took a couple of weeks for myself after that but now I'm back, at least as focussed as earlier.

Some of my newer work is available at Mesh Boutique and at Ryce Fashion Design, both on or near Richmond Row in London Ontario Canada.
