About

Flaming June Vintage is the result of my lifelong love affair with vintage fashion.

I spent the days of my youth climbing trees, swinging from grapevines, and proving to the neighborhood boys I could throw a football farther and run a little faster. I was a 'tomboy' for sure, but my girly imagination came to life in my Grandmother's closet. There she housed an entire retrospective of women's fashion. Stoles and cloches from the 30's, tailored suits from the 40's, bombshell and cocktail dresses from the 50's, mod shifts and a-lines from the 60's, bohemian caftans and suedes from the 70's, and labeled designer wear from the conservative 80's.

I dressed myself in her too-high pointy-toed heels, pill box hats, layers of pearls and studied the garment construction, fabrics and knits of bygone eras.

Flaming June partners my love of vintage fashion with my commitment to the environment and a more sustainable future. Reusing existing goods and checking out of mass consumerism is a great way to contribute. I hope you will find here a thoughtfully curated collection of eclectic one-of-a-kind pieces, unique styles and timeless classics that represent my philosophy. Good design is good design... so wear what you love!

What's the story behind the name? 'Flaming June' is an homage to Frederic Lord Leighton's 1895 masterpiece (my favorite painting): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flaming_June
