About

Hi, my name is Barbara, I'm 27 years old and I grew up in Germany. I lived in a small german town from birth until I was about 17. I loved it there, but of course I didn't know that until I moved away.

We had a little elementary school there, and I spent my four years in it drawing on my books and papers. When I got older I loved to hang out by the train tracks, sitting on a loading deck of an abandoned building, which were 5 minutes walking distance from our house. I also watched alot of TV back then, most of my inspiration comes from that time. I had Disney's "Alice in Wonderland" on VHS, and I watched it hundrets of times, oh I loved it (and still do). My other favourite was a german tv-show called "Janosch's Traumstunde", which influenced my style as well. German tv-shows back then were very slow paced, and always took place in nature, especially old forests and fields. So,…

So, combine that with "Alice in Wonderland", and you have my style! :D

When I was 18, I was homeless for a while, and a dark time of my life started, as well as my "wild times", I partied at a club which played heavy metal, gothic and other heavy and dark music. (I am now also a musician.) Those times are reflected sometimes in my darker pieces of work.

Then I met my now husband, an American, and when I was 23 we married and after a while I moved to the USA, and I'm still trying to get used to it! :D

I now realize, that I have been an artist all my life, but have been discouraged to think of myself as one. This is the reason why I don't have alot of pieces of work actually finished, to me, doing the work of creating was more fun than finishing the piece and having something to show for. But I am getting better as I embrace the artist in myself and know, that I owe it to myself to *cringe* finish my pieces.
