Brian Humphrey's Profile

About

I come from a long line of artists, craftsmen, and lovers of nature. My father was a scholar and theologian of Native American descent & instilled in him a deep respect for the natural world. My father's brother is an accomplished maker of stained glass. My mother is a proficient oil painter of landscapes; her father was an artist, as well. At 16, I began exhibiting a talent for woodworking in the service of cabinet makers and fine furniture shops. I love history so here's a look into my family name. This was actually kinda fun to dig up. In Ireland the Humphrey name is numerous in Ulster, & in the six countries of northern Ireland having been introduced from Britain prior to the (census) of 1659. The earliest written reference of the Humphrey name is found in the Doomsday Book of 1086, & again in Suffolk the period of 1186-88. Births & Deaths in the Humphrey family have been recorded in Darowen, Wales up through the years 1635 to 1708. Listed among the landed gentry in America is the Humphrey family formerly of lyme Regis. The family was begun in America by the arrival of Michael Humphrey of the Devonshire family, in Windsor in 1642. Through the generations they intermarried with the native peoples of the region no doubt intertwining the native beliefs with the ancient Welsh Pagan traditions of old. Pretty cool huh?
