About

I grew up in a "carpenter family". I remember summer projects with my uncles and, later, doing small carpentry projects for neighbors and family to make extra money as a kid. As the years passed, I took on large carpentry jobs to earn a living and to put myself through college, and then used my hard earned degree.......... to become a carpenter.

I started my career with framing and home building before I moved in to fine trim carpentry work. I worked with some awesome oldtimers and learned traditional ways of carpentry, joinery, tusk tenons, mortises, sold wood construction - old school quality.

I grew up in a "carpenter family". I remember summer projects with my uncles and, later, doing small carpentry projects for neighbors and family to make extra money as a kid. I started my career with framing and home building before I moved in to fine trim carpentry work. I worked with some awesome oldtimers and learned traditional ways of carpentry, joinery, tusk tenons, mortises, sold wood construction - old school quality.

The local lumber mill fascinated me. The way they could cut those logs, the way you could have grain patterns, quarter sawn, flat sawn, rift sawn.....but I digress. I realized I had found a passion for the wood and the way it spoke to me. Not for the mass produced lumber for framing and house building, but for those totally unique and individual pieces from each and every tree.

So, I hung up my carpenter's belt and started my own furniture company. My interests in sustainable harvesting of lumber and production of goods has had a huge influence on the materials I use and the way I create these pieces for French Creek Furniture.

Thanks for checking out my shop.
