GARY PRESLAR's Profile
Having purchased a redwood burl at a garage sale in 1989 and meeting a wood carver that same day at an art fair was the beginning of Gary Preslar’s wood carving career. He soon discovered he had a natural talent for carving the things of nature that he loves such as trees, eagles, and fish.
He carves wall hangings in burl wood and wood spirits in pine knots that he collects from the forest floor. Pine knots are left after and a pine tree falls and decomposes.
Gary and his wife live in Grants Pass, in the Rogue River Valley in Southern Oregon. They enjoy trips to the forest to look for pine knots.. They also enjoy going to the Oregon Coast, combing the beaches for a piece of driftwood that could be put to use in a carving,
