Creative outlets have always been very important to me. When I was younger, I was often engaged in some sort of creative endeavor. Somewhat recently, I have found myself returning to the pleasures of self-expression through creation after a long absence.

I think we often learn to feel as though we should 'leave art to the artists' and worry about not belonging in the arts community. I hold a Masters of Science in Criminology--I can definitely relate to not feeling artsy since academic pursuits have been such a priority for me. But the two do not have to be mutually exclusive.

There is something organic and cathartic about creating something with the hands. I like to design jewelry that represents my interpretation of distant, more romantic times through mid-century and even Renaissance themes. In my art I like to…
