Hello and welcome to my shop! I’m really glad you stopped by…

My name is Gina Librizzi; I’m the owner, designer, and (currently) the sole employee of Gina Librizzi Designs. Everything in my shop is handcrafted by me, in my home studio in scenic Dingmans Ferry, PA. All of my items are created in a smoke-free environment, and they are made to last a lifetime!

SOME BACKGROUND
I’ve been fascinated with beads and accessories ever since I was a young child playing with my grandmother’s jewelry and shoe collections. I started to learn sewing and needlework when I was about seven or eight years old, and spent many happy hours of my childhood doing embroidery and crewelwork, crocheting, and making beaded ornaments. It seemed a sort of natural progression when I taught myself beading and wirework later on in…

It seemed a sort of natural progression when I taught myself beading and wirework later on in life…

I’ve always been passionate about art, fashion, style, and design; during my high school years I was frequently caught sketching my ideas on textbook covers and in notebooks. But like so many young people, I was encouraged to pursue a “real” career in science and technology, so I earned my bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and worked (unhappily) in software for more than ten years. I eventually left the corporate world to pursue my real passions full-time.

MY PROCESS
What I absolutely love best about working from home is that I get to spend all day with my six rescued cats. They are the loves of my life and keep me smiling!

My creative process is a little different each day, but it generally follows one of three paths:
1) I‘ll often challenge myself to put together a stylish, on-trend outfit from my own clothing collection, including shoes, bag, and jacket or coat, if appropriate. I take a good look at it, try it on, and ask myself, “Now what jewelry would best complement this look?” If it doesn’t already exist, I create it, and thus, a new design is born! Then I like to take the clothes (or one key piece) and create multiple looks by changing the accessories. For example, you can take an outfit from “Urban Casual” to “Uptown Sophisticate” just by changing the shoes, bag, and jewelry. Such great fun!

2) Other times I’ll start with some beads or components that I may have had for a while, but haven’t yet incorporated into a design, and challenge myself to make something with them. I’ll lay them out on my worktable and let them speak to me. This has often led to some very beautiful – and surprisingly versatile – designs that can later be re-created with other materials as well. Many of these ideas seem to be influenced by my love of retro glamour, especially Edwardian, Art Deco, and Jazz-Age styles.

3) My large statement pieces usually start with a vision in my mind – a look or a feeling that I want to evoke. From there my work involves finding the materials and techniques that will make it a reality. My original idea will usually evolve a bit during the hands-on creative process. Once my “masterpiece” is complete, it’s fun to take a sort of reverse approach to styling: I start with the statement jewelry as the “star” piece, and then build multiple outfits around it.

STYLE, CONFIDENCE, INSPIRATION
I hope some of my pieces will inspire you to create your own signature looks! If you don’t see anything that’s quite right for you, I’ll be happy to work with you on a custom design. I am genuinely committed to my customers’ satisfaction, and I will work with you as needed to make sure that you are completely happy with your purchase. You can read more about my guarantee on my shop’s policy page.

Beading is such a peaceful and meditative process for me. I often listen to positive affirmations while I’m working, to uplift my consciousness and infuse my pieces with good energy… let me know if you can feel it!
