Roger Child's Profile

About

I grew up in Ogden Utah and have been a full time lampworker for 12 years. I discovered lampworked glass during the summer of 1998 and instantly fell in love with the magic of working hot glass in the flame of a torch. Inspired by nature and fantasy, my beads, marbles and sculptures are handmade one at a time by me using lampworking techniques. I start by melting the tip of a glass rod or glass tube in the flame of a torch specifically designed for working with glass. I then continue to add layers of colored glass and manipulate it to create these beautiful and unique glass beads, marbles and sculptures. I use Moretti Italian glass, Lauscha glass, Borosilicate glass and even recycle some glass from wine bottles.
