About

Corinne Stubson is a resident of Medford, Oregon. In 1995 she retired from a 20-year career in nursing, and is now immersed in the field of altered books, journal and book construction, collage and more.

As a member of what she calls the 'sandwich generation'-(daughter, wife, mother, grandmother), Corinne is thoroughly immersed in her life as artist. She has a passion for using the ordinary in 'un'ordinary ways.

Corinne has created art in a variety of media all her life - from the age of six learning from her mother how to knit , crochet, and sew and embroider, to creating stained glass art, and then migrating to the paper-oriented arts. She has also been a long-time community arts volunteer, especially for music and the visual arts.

Since 2001 , Corinne has been employing mixed media in her altered book art, as well as making books from ' junk' CD's, crushed pop cans, paper bags, and more. Another art which has given her great pleasure is creating fabulous *glitzy* fabric bead earrings, which is what stimulated her to create the name "Glitz-Oh!" for her beads and then for her website:
http://www.glitz-oh.com

Corinne is an active member and former moderator of Alteredbooks Group <http://groups.yahoo.com/group/alteredbooks/>
She hones her art through sharing with her colleagues in the burgeoning creative arena of 'outsider art'. She is a member of the International Society of Altered Book Artists (ISABA), and is an active member of the Design Team of Ten Two Studios:

Corinne has exhibited and sold her altered book creations through the Rogue Gallery in Medford, and the Scarlet Palette gallery in Jacksonville, OR. She has taught altered books and other book structure classes, beeswax collage, and more-- in Oregon, California and Nevada. She continues to enjoy taking mixed media "outsider" art classes which stimulate her 'muse', give her "artful" soul food, and provide her with the opportunity to meet with other artists in her field. "The art I create comes from within; I hope my art inspires others to be creative too!"
