About

I love and appreciate the art of handcrafted jewelry. At StoneForestJewels I offer my own handcrafted one of a kind jewelry, recycled and vintage upcycled and select vintage creations by others. I find inspiration in gems, wire, textiles, art, nature and spirit. and especially the jewelry handcrafted by ancient civilizations. Unless requested I rarely repeat a design. I sell locally, on Etsy and at shows in the U.S.A. I am the proud mother of a very bright son with challenges and he inspires me daily too! He is so astute at noticing the tiniest details in things.

I left home to serve in the military at age 17. I had traveled a lot being a military child so many things were familiar to me.

During and after my military service I was at university studying psychology, archaeology, anthropology of religion and finally social work through graduate school. All my life and in between university and employment, I was creating things with my hands.

I have loved solitary camping in the most isolated and wild places of Florida during the cooler months (less snaky). During these times, I would find moss covered homes in rocks and trees jewel toned birds and much more. I am always trying to learn a new way to share these experiences in words and through my hands. I also have an e-book on Amazon.com called "Fireflies in the Forest” which helped me with the healing process from several traumatic life events. I was leaving a long career in clinical social work when I wrote it, and eventually for health reasons I changed my part time jewelry creations into my only work.

I may repeat my own designs for custom orders - as noted, but none of my work is created through patterns or kits. Artists inspire other artists and the same is true for me. I study the history of jewelry and I study the techniques of colleagues and I invent my own. I practice and learn daily about how to put my own ideas into fruition. Like many artists, I cannot stop waking up and sketching designs. Each work is an original inspired by years of travel, studying nature, loving interesting and beautiful jewelry, history and lore of gemstones and sacred objects and most of all a connection with our Creator. Welcome and thank you so much for stopping by.

Please see my other etsy shop for surplus new and vintage destash I can't use in my current studio.
