About

"In your light I learn how to love. In your beauty, how to make poems. You dance inside my chest where no-one sees you, but sometimes I do, and that sight becomes this art.
~ Rumi

My artistic passion is to create wearable and functional art for women and girls that inspire them to just be who they are, naturally beautiful inside and out. I believe that handmade things nurture us and connect us. It is my hope that in my creations you will feel the seasons, the ocean breeze, a sunrise, the essence of friendship, the fluttering of fairy wings...

My childhood fascination with teeny tiny things grew into my desire to make jewelry. Adorning the body with stone and shell beads is an ancient cultural phenomenon that I can feel in my bones. Maybe my ancestors made things. Or maybe in a past life I was a gnome or a fairy. On sunny days you will find me giddy amongst wildflowers. On rainy days you will find me kneeling in the duff delighting in mushrooms and lichen.

For about twenty years I've been making everything from jewelry to baskets and each new year brings a desire to explore new mediums. My current inspiration is the Poetry Box - a collection of items adorned with heartfelt messages.

I use earth tones and design my pieces so that they are fairly small and light, adding just a touch of natural elegance to the wearer. My designs are influenced by my professional experience as a botanist and environmental educator. I love to share interesting tidbits about plants, wildlife, and where we fit into the great web.

Using natural and sustainable materials can be challenging for a maker of many things such as myself but I am committed to having my finished products fit my personal ideals for a healthy environment so I strive to make everything as natural as possible. I use mostly wool based felt but occasionally Eco-Felt, made from 100% recycled material. All beaded items are made with gemstones, wood, shell or glass. The larger wood components like barrettes and hair sticks are sustainably harvested. All metal hair accessories for children are lead-free. My handmade pendants are finished with a water-based non-toxic lacquer. I enjoy finding the harmony among natural materials.

Quality is very important to me. I know that when I purchase a handmade treasure, I want it to last. I make mine to last and cherish.

I hope that you will find something here to cherish, reflecting the beauty inherent in you and all around you!
