As a child who spent much time in New York City, I was fascinated by Art Deco work in the Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, Grand Central train station, and The Plaza and Waldorf-Astoria hotels. It was there I began to see how exquisite and refined fine serving china, a stylized elevator door, colorful tile work, or even a hallway vase could be. While majoring in Art and Journalism in college and at two Fine Art academies, I won many design contests and sold many of my creations.
