About

Handmaiden is an old term for a “female attendant, assistant, domestic worker or slave” – a Mom, and once a Mom, always a Mom. Out if this came HandMaid-n Tucson; a never ending source of amusement for my number 2 son. Make no mistake though: all 4 of my sons call me "Boss Lady"!

I also hate waste; wasted time, wasted energy, wasted materials and because of this and being the only female around I tend to be the target of friendly teasing from the guys. With grocery bags being tossed at me with the words "so do something with these" the gauntlet was thrown. Weaving is my passion so with this challenge I proceeded with bags, scissors and a loom warped for rugs. My entire family are dumpster divers and creators of beautiful and practical things from others waste. A husband who works with wood, a mother who has more talents and an artistic eye that can dream up anything, #3 is a welder and designer of drums, #4 a writer , #1 an architect and #2 making upright electric bases, furniture and guitars.

We are a family that likes to keep busy, creating and adding practical beauty to our everyday lives.
