I want to start by telling you all the meaning of HayatCo. Hayat means life in arabic and the name of my wife. I wanted something of value for my work, I work a lot with my hands and the majority of my work is using wood with inspiration from Islam and life itself.

About

I want to start by telling you all the meaning of HayatCo. Hayat means life in arabic and the name of my wife. I wanted something of value for my work, I work a lot with my hands and the majority of my work is using wood with inspiration from Islam and life itself.

I have been working with my hands creatively ever since I could remember. Born in 1958, I grew to find myself fascinated by limitless varieties of art and forms of self-expression. I started crafting these handmade wood carvings in 1993 in Brooklyn, New York and with every wood carving came a lesson learned and a skill enhanced.

I carved shapes, and hand-painted many of them, and is especially known for my carvings of words and statements in Arabic calligraphy. Eventually, I moved with my family to Chicago in 1999 and my wood carvings grew in popularity as I began selling them at a few conventions. As time passed, I needed to take a break from the wood carvings to open my auto body repair shop. As years passed, my family encouraged me to continue with creating this art. And so I returned to the scroll-saw and the paints and began trying, testing, and eventually perfecting fresh new ideas and designs. I have plans to share my work with the art-loving people of the world.

What is noticeably special about my work, is that every single piece I make is hand-made and specially crafted with the care and diligence that it takes to create a memorable and personal piece of art. I'm always open to new ideas and offer the option to customize a piece, tailor-made the way you might want it.
