I returned to painting shortly after my brother died. Peter had beat cancer but it was his heart that gave out; he had turned 50 just 2 weeks before.

Heart shapes started showing up everywhere and to get through the days I would say that Pete was sending them.

When I started to create art again, I seemed to head in many directions but would find myself reverting to color,shapes and repetition of forms. Hearts started to show up in some of my smaller pieces and having enjoyed the meditative process of hand quilting,"ink stitches" evolved to finish my work.

I wasn't seeing hearts as I had before; then the thought of making and selling art to benefit the American Heart Association came to mind. When the decision was made to persue this, hearts appeared in nature again. I believe I'm to follow this…
