Welcome to Heartistics / Heartistics.com and thank you for taking time to look around.

One may be inclined to presume that the “Heart” in Heartistics has to do with the shape of many of the pieces I design. The truth is that the “Heart” is from my passion for the art of creating wonderful new things from aged, weathered, or discarded wood. I take great satisfaction in my ability to see within a material and through the magic and skill of carpentry, release a thing of beauty from what may otherwise have been discarded as old, worn, broken, or undesirable materials!

My grandfather is to thank for kindling that passion at the early age of 5. It was in his workshop that I first became enamored with the distinct smell of wood, the bins and bins of ‘stuff’ you could make other ‘stuff’ out of, and the process of creating art from something as simple as wood scraps! My favorite memory still, is remembering slipping into his shop and opening the big bottom drawer of a well used workbench to his wonderful collection of old tools. Tools that, like the craft itself had been passed down through grandfathers and sons, to me. I use many of those same tools today to bring my craft to you. I hope you enjoy browsing through my designs, and that you find something among them that brings joy to you as well.

In keeping with the tradition of my forefathers, each and every item I create is created one at a time; the inlays cut by hand with a handsaw. My hearts are cut to a hand drawn pattern that is unique to that heart and then destroyed.

My collectors cars are produced in very limited numbers; and it may be years before I re-release a particular model. The heirloom baby cradles I hand make are specifically designed and built to be your gift to many generations to come.

The surfaces and edge details of my work are formed freehand without the use of templates, Dremel tools or routers. Every piece that I create is meticulously hand sanded, finished and polished; not hand held while a machine does the work.

My craft is not just something that I do, it fills my very heart; and with this I offer my creations to you, from my heart to yours.
