Jodie Burgess' Profile

About

I am Jodie Burgess and I am stress induced mentally disabled.
I had a high stress job and was the Queen of multi- tasking! The economy had fallen to ruin, the company was cutting back on staff. The more the company found I could do, the more I did and the less I had to do it with.
One day a part of my mind said I was in serious trouble. I could not communicate! My emails didn’t make sense. My phone calls were incoherent. I didn’t understand what I read. Panic was rising like an inexorable tide. I managed to call my husband. He was there in 5 minutes and two minutes after that he was carefully leading me out of the building.

The white noise of a city is like a buzz that never ends. My husband helped me rediscover the wilderness of Montana. It’s quiet in the mountains and everything has a reason. It’s fascinating to explore or just sit, listen and watch. Montana is full of wonder and majesty. I wanted to tell that story.
Now that I had a story to tell, I needed a way to tell it. I love the textures and colors of wool roving. It is soothing and comfortable. I found a way to use it to communicate. Most of my work is done in the dry needle felting method and comes in the form of wool paintings or functional art. I hope you enjoy this journey as I explore and tell the story of the Montana wilderness… and other magical things!
