About

My background is very different from where I have ended up in my current life. I am SO grateful. I received a BA in Economics and a Master of Public Administration and worked very hard in my career. Health related circumstances beyond my control, displaced me from my professional to a much slower and quieter life, now amongst the trees and birds, awakening my fascination with insects, but most importantly, it has deepened my relationship with my husband, the earth and the soil!

Always a city girl, it has been a dream of mine to homestead since I was very young. I am now in a life amongst the: sunshine, dirt and soil; nurturing life, growing organic, gmo-free, heirloom food, then seeds; learning to be harmonious with nature and the natural order of things, as Mother Earth intended.

Although I have been a backyard gardener for years, I was able to expand my garden in 2009 when my husband and I purchased 5 acres of land and finally moved from the city to the country-side. We currently have a 6,000 sq ft. (and expanding) vegetable garden, 15 fruit trees, 10 chickens, and a hive of bees. I am a novice homesteader, but a very experienced gardener and seed saver.

I have taken numerous workshops and courses on: seed saving, organic gardening, permaculture, orchard care, managing pests naturally, amongst numerous other topics. I've traveled far and wide to attend seed saving conferences and hold a certification in a national gardening program. I seek knowledge on additional ways to lesson my impact on the earth, while building my homesteading skills and practices. I use only organic gardening techniques because I believe it is imperative to do so if we are to collectively preserve the health of humans, animals and the planet. I choose to be part of the solution.
