"So who are you guys?"

Hi there! I suppose it is time we introduced ourselves, huh? Well, I'd better start from the top: First we have our loyal and supportive overseers, a.k.a. Mom and Dad, then we have the sibling crafters; all nine of us, that is. With our ages ranging from the single-digits to the mid-twenties, we are constantly striving to combine our varied strengths and skill-sets to compliment each other as best as we can.

"So what do you do at home all day?"

Well, firstly, we run and maintain our 50 acre homestead in the beautiful upper peninsula of MI. We have several animals to care for and glean from. Secondly, we're always learning new things. We usually have a zillion-and-ten experimental projects going at once, and we're learning and discovering what works and what doesn't. Thirdly, we…

Thirdly, we make stuff for our farm, home and for each other. We try to provide for ourselves as much as we possibly can. We also home-school the younger kids. And lastly, but certainly not least, we make stuff for you! :-)

"Where are you all going as a family?"

Well, our goal is to one day be self-sufficient on our homestead. Actually, make that 'God-sufficient', as there's no way we could do it alone. We recognize that life is short, as is the time that we spend together as a family, so we want to spend much of it together; working, singing, praying, playing, laughing, living, loving!

"Where did you guys get your crafty talents?"

Um, well, I think they just developed over time. Living on a homestead provides you a great training ground for your creative endeavors. Basically, I think the constant need for us to exercise our creativity in providing for ourselves has developed it the most. We make each other our own Christmas and birthday gifts, and furnish and decorate our home ourselves. Our biggest project of all time was in the summer of '05 when we built our own handmade home as a family. What an awesome experience! You can view pictures of the process here: http://www.home-n-stead.com/about/blog_files/category-3.html

"What are you selling in your shop?"

Anything that we really, really like! lol. It's a wide variety for sure! My brothers all enjoying working with wood. They're very good at making rustic furniture, as they had to learn to build with the materials we had on our land. My sisters and I all like to knit, sew, quilt, applique, etc. Several of the kids have artistic talent with a pencil. Some of us love to write and we all love making movies. And of course, we're good at making really cool toys! :-) Everyone contributes what they have. 'ThatFamilyShop' is a group effort working toward a common goal: family at home.

"Hmm, interesting."

Yup, thanks for reading! And enjoy your browse through our store!

"Wait a minute--and who are YOU?"

Oh yeah, ;-) I'm the oldest daughter. Find out more about me and my family's day to day life at: http://thatfamilyblog.com

We are also on Etsy as 'FunnyFarmToyBarn', creating all-natural games and toys!
